Lack of hygiene and its negative effects on food safety can lead to life threatening diseases. By setting of the directive (EU) No.178/2002, the EU is trying to ensure that only safe food products and animal feeds are put onto the market. This directive is valid for activities throughout the entire foodstuff chain, starting at agriculture- farming operations and reaching up to the retail business, gastronomy and mass catering. The ISO 22000:2005, is the International Standard for foodstuffs and feeds, it is there relevant standard for suppliers and service providers at the food and beverages sector.
